Greetings from quarantine and my couch! Being cooped up in my home for the past couple of weeks watching so many T.V. shows and a lot of commercials about hair products being sold in our drug stores has got me thinking… Do you really know what's in that bottle? A lot of major beauty companies (we won’t mention any names) that we see in our drug stores are mass produced and contain a lot of ingredients that we cannot pronounce thus resulting in a hell of a deal ($$$). One of the ingredients that we see in shampoos and conditioners from them is actually wax, plastics and high percentages of alcohol. Yes, your hair feels clean and soft, but is it? The majority of these drug store products also contain a lot of sulphates which causes a huge lather that appears to be cleaning your hair. When actually all it is doing is leaving all of that dirt in your hair and putting a wax coat over top of it. Gross, eh? That sizzle you hear when you pass your flat iron through that heat protectant…. That's vodka... Think about it. Who knows more about your hair’s needs than your stylist? Why not ask them their professional opinion about Salon Products? The reasoning why is because your hair is one of your biggest investments as well as it is the first thing that people notice. You spend a lot of money getting your hair done, wouldn’t you wanna take care of that investment? Kevin Murphy is one of the brands we carry at Salon Society. All of Kevin Murphy’s products are from natural sources and are created by Kevin himself who is a working stylist in our industry. All of the ingredients listed on the back of the bottles are clearly stated as well as not wax, plastic or alcohol. So they are great for your investment! Yesterday I was talking to my stylist pals from Vancouver, we were discussing the solutions we are providing to our clients during this time. My friend Kalli Wyssen from Artel Salon in Vancouver, BC let me know about this COLOR WOW product that her clients are loving. They sold out in the first day they made it available. The video speaks for itself, what a cool solution!! Thank you so much Eliza Trendiak for creating this video. Even though a lot of the world has shut down, a lot of people are still working from home and still need to attend Zoom meetings and need to look professional. Do you relate? We are offering safe doorstep delivery to Moose Jaw, Regina and most surrounding communities. Stay safe, and healthy; - Nadine SHOP OUR BOUTIQUE:SALON SOCIETY1368 ROSE STREET, REGINA, SASKATCHEWANToday I sat down to write my first blog post ever, and I decided to go with something that I have had
a lifetime of experience with – thick hair. My love/hate relationship with my frizzy, thick hair started at a young age, and since then I have done just about everything to it (from bleaching it, to shaving it, my poor hair has seen it all) – however, no matter the length or colour, my favourite hair care tips remain the same.
There we have it; those are my top 3 tips for embracing the blessing in disguise that is thick hair!
I'm Nadine, the owner and one of the Master Hair Artists at Salon Society in Regina, Saskatchewan. I've been on a few hair journeys myself but finding the right products for my hair type was the hardest. I have that baby fine hair, which is easily damaged, and it greases up faster than most people I know. Luckily for me, I found a method that has changed *most* of that. Today I'm going to share with you my methods of co-washing and hair training so that you too can train your hair to need less shampooing.
I'm also going to include my tips on the do's and don'ts of hair washing when you have no other choice but wash your hair everyday. Perhaps you are physically active daily, have a job where you get dirty or are one of our frontline workers during the covid-19 pandemic crisis and need to wash your hair daily or sometimes even after every patient. Today would mark 5 months in business at our new location on Rose Street, so what better day to create a blog? Since having to pivot the way we do business at the end of March, we've been like so many of you: in limbo. When will we be allowed back into the salon? How are all of our clients doing? Me miss you so much! Our team is working hard to bring you valuable information to help get you through this global pandemic and beyond!
