How to Wash Your Hair

for Salon-Like Results

We know what you’re probably thinking – “How can I be washing my hair wrong?” After all, you’ve only been doing it for years! But you might be surprised to learn that the wrong technique can lead to damage or even leave your hair looking greasy. Pretty ironic, huh? From the temperature of the water to how often you shampoo, here’s how to make the most of your cleansing ritual.

Find the right shampoo

First of all, you’ll want to identify your specific hair type concerns. Book a free consultation with one of Salon Society's stylists, who will be able to deliver your individual hair diagnosis and advise you on which products are right for you. Whatever your concern, our shampoos can help you to achieve salon-perfect results after every wash.
Each of our ranges are specially formulated to tackle specific concerns whilst providing effective gentle cleansing action. For example, those with fine hair that lacks volume might want to try the Densifique or Volumifique ranges. Our Nutritive and Resistance ranges can help to nourish and repair dry, brittle strands respectively, whilst those with unruly curly hair might want to opt for the anti-frizz, smoothing action of the Discipline line or the new Curl Manifesto range, formulated for all types of wavy, curly, and coily strands. Blondes can try the Blonde Absolu line, created specifically for blonde, lightened, or bleached hair. Finally, the brand-new Chroma Absolu line is the best option to protect coloured or sensitized hair.

How to wash your hair the right way

Now that you’ve found the right shampoo, it’s time to take a closer look at your technique.

Here are some ways you can improve your hair washing technique:
  • Remember to lather twice:  once to cleanse and a second time to treat and nourish.
  • Use warm water to open the hair cuticle and rinse with cold water to seal the cuticle and avoid frizz.
  • Don’t forget to massage: massaging your scalp in circular motions can stimulate circulation and leave it feeling refreshed.

Add the finishing touches.

The steps you take after shampooing also play a big role in keeping your hair healthy and radiant:

To maximize results in addressing your specific hair concern, we recommend using products from the same range.

Choose the right conditioner for your hair concerns.

When drying avoid rubbing which can lead to breakage and split ends, gently patting your hair dry instead. Last but not least - always use a thermo-protector if using heat for styling.

It’s that simple! Hair washing, done like a pro.

Blonde hair looks its best when glossy and smooth. So what are the best ways to prevent dullness, damage and discolouration happening to your beloved blonde locks? We’ve got 4 tips to care for your blonde hair.

Gentle cleanse
Protect your blonde hair colour by using a gentle lightweight formula shampoo; perfect to soothe and hydrate hair from root to top, while illuminating blonde tones.

Keep conditioned
Conditioner specifically formulated for lightened hair will help your blonde last for longer, and maintain a good condition. A restorative conditioner, like Cicaflash, will give a super shot of care to your blonde hair, leaving it feeling silky soft and hydrated

Maintain your perfect tone
A violet shampoo, like Bain Ultra-Violet, used twice a week will help to neutralize brassiness and unwanted yellow tones in blonde or grey hair, for a nourished cool blonde. You can also use a violet mask, like the Blond Absolu Masque Ultra-Violet, to neutralize brassiness and care for your blonde hair.

Perfect your style

A leave-in heat protector can really help to care for blonde hair while helping to protect the hair from heat damage. Try Cicaplasme, a universal heat-protecting serum from the Blond Absolu range that offers up to 230℃ / 440℉ heat protection.
